tank2

Dear Copalis Rocks Property Owners,

We have recently completed the reservoir project and are now operating with the new above ground tank.  Although the old reservoir building is still there, there are big changes on the inside!  We replaced the pressure tanks dating back to the 1970’s and put 4 smaller tanks in series for additional reliability and redundancy.  We have abandoned the underground tank that has served us for so many years but do plan to demolish the building in the future.

Because the tank is above ground, we have gained about 10 feet of head which translates to an additional 4 psi on the gravity system.
Please let us know if you have any issues since the change over to the new tank.

Regards,
Your neighbors of the Copalis Rocks Mutual Benefit Association

All water meter installation work is complete. Service metering is required per state law.

Supply meter installed supplying reservoir, in order to assess losses, if any, in pumping from the well house.

Meters installed at roadway adjacent to properties, as previously installed meters were difficult to access or frequently under water in places.
New meter box tally: Three at reservoir and six on upper lane (pressure line); Eight on south lane (gravity line)

New roof installed on well house, gratis by Robert N. with materials supplied by CRMBA (see before and after pics in the

All water line work is complete. Weather permitting, the contractor will be out this week adding rock and gravel which will leave the road in better shape than before. Once that is done all work will be over for the year.

We have seen a dramatic drop of water usage since the line has been completed. Roughly a 2/3 drop. we were emptying and refilling the 15,000 gallon reservoir every day. Now we are every three days. We will have more quantitative usage measurements after we have read the well meter for a few weeks. Adding the meters at each house will also be a help in determining where any leaks are. We already found one property that has a leak beyond the meter. That leak alone was about 400 gallons per day. An average household of 4 people typically use about 350 gallons per day.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

The north lane line is in place and backfilled up to approximately #7.  All supply lines are attached and meter assemblies are in place, with the exception of the two end residences on the north lane. The remaining connections, trench fill, and miscellaneous clean-up will take place this week, weather permitting. Access is limited during the week as work progresses, and water will not be available.

*** Since all of these lines will be sanitized,
be sure to purge your supply line at an outside faucet for several minutes before domestic use.***

The south lane line is in place and backfilled for the most part.  The line was chlorinated and shut down over the weekend.  Today, the contractor was finishing installing meters.   The road still needs some work, including final compaction and cleanup and will be completed before week’s end.  Due to all of the work, some foliage along the sides of the road was lost, so it may look different.

The north lane work will take place this week.  Based on last week’s experience, it is likely that water will be shut down through the weekend on the north lane only.  The road should be open.  As the week progresses, we will keep everyone posted.

Work Status 15 Oct 2010
The water line on the south lane will be in place and the road opened by this evening.  Unfortunately the south lane water will be shut off until Monday so the line can be sanitized. We are sorry if this is an inconvenience to any of you.

The north lane will have water, but the contractor may start trenching starting at the far north end.  It will not affect anyone south of #7  so #s 1, 3 and 5 should be accessable (see Water Service Area link at left).
Thanks for your understanding.

South lane water line replacement ongoing; possibly thru this weekend
Road closure possible

3 Culverts replaced during week of 4 October

While work is intended to take place during the week, access may be limited on the roads with water being turned off during the week on the affected lane.  Weekend travel to the beach should not be interrupted and water is scheduled to be on, although there is aways unforeseen circumstance.
